I called this my Candle Holder tutorial, but you may think of it as a Goblet or Wine Glass
if you'd like. This tutorial will work in both PSP6 and PSP7. Where
there are any differences, I have noted them and given separate screen shots.
You will need the following files for this
tutorial:
 |
Click these candles
and save the "cc_goblet.sel" file to the folder you
created for this tutorial. |
 |
Click these candles
and save the "Hoods_Sparkle_White.psp" file to the
folder you created for this tutorial. (This file is
compatible with PSP5.) |
 |
Click these candles
and save the "cc_chimney.sel" file to the folder you
created for this tutorial. (This is an optional file, should you
decide to create samples like those on page 4.) |
 |
Click these candles
and save the "cc_chimney.psp" file to the folder you
created for this tutorial. (This is an optional file, should you
decide to create samples like those on page 4.) |
Open the "Hoods_Sparkle_White.psp" in Paint
Shop Pro and export as a tube.
The best piece of advice I can give you is: SAVE
OFTEN! There's not much worse than putting a lot of hard work into an
image, only to lose it through a computer glitch (or human error!). I'll remind
you to save your file throughout this tutorial. The autosave feature in PSP7 is
great, but it is not FOOLPROOF, so don't rely on it exclusively.
Open a new image: 200 x 350 pixels, resolution 72 pixels/inch, 16 million
colors, transparent background. Right click on Layer1 and rename Goblet.
Click on Selections/Load from Disk. Browse
to the folder you created for this tutorial. Choose the "cs_goblet.sel"
selection and click open. You will see the outline of the goblet (marching
ants) on your image. You need to zoom in to about a 4:1 ratio and flood
fill the selection with black. The area you want to
fill is only 1 pixel wide! Make sure that the complete selection is filled
with black: since the selection is only 1 pixel wide the opacity may be lowered
in a small section. If this happens, just flood fill this section again.
Now deselect (Ctrl + D). Your image should look like the following.
The image on the left is normal size (after flood fill), the one on the
right is zoomed in at a 6:1 ratio (prior to flood fill):

Add a new layer called color. Make your Goblet layer active and using your
magic wand, click on the "cup" portion of your goblet. Then
expand your selection by 1. Make the color layer active and flood fill,
using the following settings:

Make your goblet layer active and using your magic wand, click on the top
"inner" portion of your goblet. Expand by 1 and make your color
layer active. Flood fill again, changing the opacity to 45 and the angle
to 270.
Make your goblet layer active and using your magic wand, click on the stem
portion of your goblet. Expand by 1 and make your color layer
active. Flood fill again, changing the opacity to 60 and the angle to 45.
Make your goblet layer active and using your magic wand, click on the base of
your goblet. Expand by 1 and make your color layer active. Flood
fill again, changing the angle to 225.
Your image should look like this:

Now would be a good time to save
your image!!
