Rainy Day Duck I find that I learn much easier with lots of visuals, so I use lots of screen shots in my tutorials. Therefore; this tutorial is graphics intensive. Please give the page time to load. Thanks, Cathy :)
Remember the screen shot of my toolbar? You don't? Well, here it is:
For the following steps you will be using buttons 1 (Select All), 4 (Float Selection), and 5 (Defloat Selection). You can also find these by clicking on "Selections" in your main menu bar at the top of your screen. Below is a screen shot of the Selections drop down menu, with the items we will be using highlighted in yellow. I have also circled in red the keyboard short cuts for these functions.
The following steps should be applied to each layer we made, with the exception of our "hilite" layers, changing the active layer and the inner bevel preset accordingly. 1. Make your puddle layer active. 2. Select All. 3. Float. 4. Defloat. 5. Selections/Modify/Expand. Enter 5 pixels and click OK. 6. Effects/3D Effects/Inner Bevel. 7. In the drop down menu, find the setting "cc_duck_puddle" and click on it. 8. Click on OK.
Now would be a good time to save (Ctrl + S) TIP: It's not necessary to deselect, since you will be "Selecting All" on each new layer. Selecting All will overwrite any previous selected area you had on your image. Change your active layer and repeat steps 2 through 8, choosing the inner bevel setting that corresponds to the layer you are on. Remember to save your image each time you complete a layer. (Ctrl + S)
Let's define our "hilites". 1. Make your "puddle hilite" layer active. 2. Click on Effects/3D Effects/Drop Shadow. 3. Apply an drop shadow, using the following settings:
Apply a drop shadow to each of your "hilite" layers, using the same settings. Once you've added all your drop shadows, your image should look like this:
Merge all visible layers by right clicking on any layer in your Layer Palette and choosing Merge/Merge Visible. You can now export your image as a picture tube, for later use. Click on File/Export/Picture Tube and use the following settings (changing the name of the tube to one of your choosing):
That's it...you're done! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!!
