This tutorial written by Cathy on June 30, 2002.
This was inspired by a glass bowl image created from one of Mahogany's tutorials.  Unfortunately, Mahogany has taken her tutorials down.  I hope she returns soon...she has so much talent and I miss her!!

  *** FILLING OUR GLASS BOWL***

1. Add three layers between your "glass back" and "glass" layers.  Name these layers as shown below:

  Save

2. Duplicate your image; minimize the original and work on your copy.  Save your copy with a unique name such as "my_filled_bowl.psp".

3. Make your "Fill 1" layer active.

4. Load your selection from the Alpha Channel

PSP8 - Selections/Load/Save Selection/Load from Alpha Channel

PSP7 - Selections/Load from Alpha Channel

5. Click on your Picture Tube tool and using the Jasc River Rocks tube, set at a scale of 35-45, fill the bottom of your bowl with rocks:

6. Deselect. (Selections/Select None)

7. Make your "Flower" layer active.

8. Again using your Picture Tube tool, place a flower (or several if you'd like) to this layer. (You may have to play with the scale setting to make your flower the right size.)

9. Use your Mover Tool to move your flower/flowers into place. (Placement will be a matter of personal taste, depending on the flowers you use.):

I used a flower tube from Graphics Galore in my bowl above - unfortunately
the site is no longer available!!

10. Make your "Fill 2" layer active.

11. Load your selection from the Alpha Channel

12. Click on your Picture Tube tool and using the Jasc River Rocks tube, set at a scale of 35-45, place a few rocks so that part of your flower is hidden, making it look as though it is coming up out of the rocks:

13. Turn off the visibility for your Raster1/Layer1 and merge visible on the remaining layers.

14. Turn on the visibility for your Raster1/Layer1 and fill with the color/pattern of your choice.  Add a frame if you'd like:

    *** VARIATIONS ***

Since we saved our original "my_glass_bowl.psp" file, we can use it over and over again to make endless graphics.  Here are a few samples I made with mine:

I sincerely hope you enjoyed creating your glass bowl.  As with all my tutorials, it is my sincere hope that you learned something new while doing this one!
