I use lots of screen shots in my tutorials, so please be patient and give these pages time to load.

Create a folder called “Menu” on your hard drive where you can save your image(s) and file.

The best piece of advice I can give you is: SAVE OFTEN! There's not much worse than putting a lot of hard work into an image, only to lose it through a computer glitch (or human error!). I'll remind you to save your file throughout this tutorial. The autosave feature in PSP7 is great, but it is not FOOLPROOF, so don't rely on it exclusively.

Before starting your image, go to File/Preferences/General Program Preferences, click on Rulers and Units and change your grid to 100 for both Horizontal and Vertical spacing.  I like to use a red color, you can choose any color you'd like.

CREATE A NEW IMAGE 200 x 400, WHITE BACKGROUND
(Each button on your menu will be 25 pixels high, so the above size will give you 16 buttons. If you need more or less than 16 buttons, just increase or decrease the height by 25 pixels for each additional button – using 200 will give you 8 buttons, using 400 will give you 16 buttons, etc.  You can also make your image twice the size you need and only use every other section for your buttons.)

Double click the Selection tool
and use the following settings
(as shown):

LEFT: 0
RIGHT: 200
TOP: 0
BOTTOM: 25

CLICK OK

NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO SAVE YOUR FILE!

Click effects, 3d effects, 
inner bevel and use the 
following settings (as shown):

Double click the selection tool and enter the following numbers:
LEFT: 0 (this number will not change)
RIGHT: 200 (this number will not change)
TOP: 25 
BOTTOM: 50 

Click OK

Click effects, 3d effects, inner bevel and use the same settings as before. 
(If you change the color here you can have a multi-colored menu)

Click OK

SAVE YOUR FILE DURING
THESE STEPS!!!

NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME TO SAVE YOUR FILE!
