(Click on the above graphic for an
explanation of the FBN skill ratings.)
I would like to thank
Flutterby and Jill and Peggy, my fellow FlyByNight members, for testing this
tutorial for me! Thanks guys for for helping me get this thing
straightened out...
For this tutorial, I am
trying something new. I am including a minimal amount of screenshots
in the main tutorial and offering the option of a second window with all
the screenshots. If you feel you need lots of screen shots, click here
to open a second window with all the screen shots for this page of the
tutorial. (If you think you'll need the screenshots, click the link
now so the page can load while you continue reading!) You can then
switch back and forth between the windows as needed. You can also
open this second window by clicking on the screenshot number (i.e.:
Screenshot 1). This option will be available on each page of the
tutorial.

~~~ FINISHING TOUCHES ~~~ |
| Each vector
object we created is on a separate layer, so you can make any
changes/adjustments to the individual pieces if you'd like. Take
a good look at your image and see if anything needs
adjusted.
I noticed that my "dress"
was not centered on my canvas, so I moved it over a bit. I also
thought my coat was too short so I lengthened it. (Wish it was
that easy in real life!) You can move any of your pieces - you
may not want all your pieces placed "just so". You can
tilt one of your braids for instance, or make them longer than I have,
just make sure you move your
bow, too.
Once you're happy with all your
pieces and parts, you can delete your guides or simply turn them off
(View/Guides).
I'm going to take you through the
finishing touches one layer at a time, working form the bottom
up. Many of the steps will be duplicated for each layer - please
bear with me if I seem too repetitive.
Make sure that the layer you are
working on is your active layer. |
|
~~~ RAINDROPS ~~~ |
|
1. Turn off the visibility for all but
your "raindrops" layer.
2. Using your
Objects Selector Tool
click in the upper left corner of your
canvas and drag out a rectangle to surround all of your
"raindrops".
3. Left click anywhere within the
selected area and click on Properties from the fly out menu.
4. Change your stroke color to a
medium gray - this will change all of your raindrops at one time and "soften" our raindrops.
(Pretty neat, huh?)
5. Convert to raster.
6. Turn on the visibility for all
your layers. |
|
~~~ PUDDLE ~~~ |
1. Using your
Objects Selector Tool
double click on your puddle to bring up
the Vector Properties Box. Change your stroke to dark blue.
2. Convert your layer to raster.
Right click on your puddle layer in the Layer Palette and click on
Convert to Raster Layer in the fly out menu.
3. Float your selection:
Selections/Select All then Selections/Float.
We will be repeating the above
steps on most of our vector objects. I will not give details on "how" to do the steps in the remaining
instructions to save time.
4. Change your foreground color to
dark blue and your background color to white. |
5. Click on your Airbrush
Tool and use the following
settings (Screenshot
32):
6. Alternating between your left and
right mouse buttons, spray some blue and white in your selected area.
7. Apply a motion blur
(Effects/Blur/Motion Blur); Direction: 90; Intensity: 11 Pixels
8. Deselect (Selections/Select None).
