explanation of the FBN skill ratings.)
Part 3
Turn off the
visibility for your "diamonds" layer and make your
"squares" layer active.
The first
plug-in I used on my squares layer is Ulead Art Texture. When your
filter window opens, click on the edit button:

When the
"Palette Ramp Editor" opens, click on Palette 5 and click
Okay. In the next window, click on the Reset button:

You should
see your pattern samples change. Click on the lower right pattern,
then choose Okay:

Your image
should not look like this:

Save your image
(Ctrl+S)
Apply your
Eye Candy 400 Glass filter, this time choosing the setting
"cc_gold1.dat" from your drop down settings menu:

If you see
any stray pixels, you can use your eraser tool to get rid of them now.
Double click
on your selection tool
and enter
the following settings:
Left: 5;
Right: 495; Top: 5; Bottom: 495
Invert your
selection (Selections/Invert) and flood fill with white. DO NOT DESELECT
Now apply
your Ulead Art Texture and Eye Candy Glass (gold) to this area. DESELECT
Save your image
(Ctrl+S)
*****THIS
IS WHERE I UPDATED TO WINDOWS XP*****
****SO MY SCREEN SHOTS WILL LOOK DIFFERENT***
Using your
Magic Wand
,
click the area between the two outermost squares:

Flood fill
this area with white. DO NOT DESELECT
Now apply
your Ulead Art Texture and Eye Candy Glass (gold) to this area. DESELECT.
This will define the edge of our
frame:

Make
Layer1 active and add a new layer. Rename this layer
"image". This is the layer you will place your image on
when you use this frame.
Save your image
(Ctrl+S)
Duplicate
your image and close the original, so you can use it in the future.
Because our
frame is square, you will need a square image to use in the frame.
If your image is not square, simply select a square portion to use in your
frame.
There are
two ways to use this frame - Full Frame or Inner Frame. I'll
explain both options and you choose the method you prefer.
FULL FRAME:
Choose the
image you want to use for your frame. Copy this image.
Switch to
your frame graphic. Make your "image" layer active.
Using your
Magic Wand click anywhere on
this layer to select your whole canvas.
Paste your image
into selection (Shift+Ctrl+L):

Merge all
layers and save your image in jpg or gif format.
INNER FRAME:
Choose the
image you want to use for your frame. Copy this image.
Switch to
your frame graphic. Make your "squares" layer active.
Using your
Magic Wand click inside the
center square. Expand your selection by 2.
(Selections/Modify/Expand)
Make your
"image" layer active.
Paste your image
into selection (Shift+Ctrl+L):

If you'd
like another color than black for your outside background, simply change
Layer1 by filling with the color/pattern of your choice.
Merge all
layers and save your image in jpg or gif format.
